Creative Competition Offers Content Creators the Chance to Attend Festival Events and Connect with Film Stars and Filmmakers
Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), headed by Festival President Hussein Fahmy, has announced that TikTok has joined the partners of its 47th edition as the festival’s Official Digital Partner. The upcoming edition will take place from November 11 to 20, 2026, as CIFF celebrates 50 years since its inaugural edition in 1976.
The partnership forms part of the festival’s strategy to expand its presence across digital platforms, strengthen its engagement with new generations of cinema enthusiasts, and harness TikTok’s creative potential to present film-related content in innovative ways and reach broader audiences, particularly young people, for whom digital platforms have become an integral part of their relationship with films and filmmakers.
As part of this collaboration, Cairo International Film Festival, in partnership with TikTok, will launch a creative competition inviting content creators on the platform to express their passion for cinema through short-form videos showcasing their perspectives, experiences, and original ideas about the art of filmmaking. The competition aims to encourage emerging talent, highlight the role of content creators in promoting film culture and enriching discussions about cinema, and inspire audiences to discover diverse cinematic experiences.
Competition winners will have the opportunity to attend selected events during the festival’s 47th edition, connect with participating actors, directors, and filmmakers, and gain firsthand insight into the atmosphere of international film festivals and the world behind filmmaking. This experience will bridge digital creativity and the film industry, opening new avenues for young talent to learn, engage, and gain valuable experience.
Commenting on the partnership, Hussein Fahmy, President of Cairo International Film Festival, expressed his pleasure, stating:
“As we celebrate 50 years since the launch of Cairo International Film Festival, we look toward the future and the new generations who will continue to shape cinema and develop its language. We are delighted to collaborate with TikTok, which has become an important space for creative expression and talent discovery. We hope this partnership will bring young people closer to the world of cinema, offering them opportunities to explore new experiences and connect with filmmakers. Cinema continues to evolve, and with it, the means of expression and the ways we engage with audiences.”
The partnership with TikTok reflects Cairo International Film Festival’s commitment to developing new ways of engaging with its audiences and keeping pace with the evolving landscape of content creation and consumption. It also aims to strengthen cinema’s presence in the digital space, create new opportunities for interaction between filmmakers and audiences, and encourage younger generations to take a more active role in cinematic dialogue.
This collaboration holds particular significance as the festival marks 50 years since its founding. CIFF continues to develop its programmes and partnerships, building on its longstanding history of showcasing Egyptian, Arab, and international cinema while embracing new media and platforms that help bring the art of filmmaking to increasingly diverse and wider audiences.
