Today, Thursday, November 20, as part of the Gala screenings at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, the film No Death Exists directed by Félix Dufour-Laperrière will have its premiere in the Middle East and North Africa. The screening will take place at 6:00 PM on the Grand Theatre stage at the Cairo Opera House within the International Competition.
No Death Exists is a 75-minute animated feature co-produced by Canada and France, presented in French. The film embodies a highly tense cinematic experience that combines human depth with political symbolism.
The story follows Hélène, who flees into the forest during an attack led by a group of her comrades against wealthy landowners, abandoning her group. However, her friend and partner in the operation, Manon, returns to pursue her and offers a second chance. The two find themselves facing an impossible choice between violence and inaction. Amid guilt and the desire for atonement, the film’s central question intensifies: how far can a person go in defending their principles?
No Death Exists is the latest work of director, writer, and producer Félix Dufour-Laperrière, co-founder of the production company Impossible Films in 2013. He has delivered several notable works including the documentary Across the Atlantic (2014) and the animated films New Town (2018) and Archipelago (2021). The film had its world premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival.
