Today, the esteemed artist Hussein Fahmy, President of the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, inaugurated the « CAIRO’S XR » section, a new specialized department for new media within the festival. CAIRO’S XR presents experiences in extended reality films, interactive experiences, and cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and narrative games, offering an advanced platform for artists worldwide to explore new horizons in cinematic storytelling.
Festival President Hussein Fahmy expressed his great pleasure at the innovative projects showcased in CAIRO’S XR, emphasizing that these experiences represent the future of cinema and a distinctive blend of art and technology, reflecting the festival’s commitment to supporting creativity and cinematic innovation.
Mohamed Tarek, the festival’s artistic director, stated that the CAIRO’S XR section marks a significant leap in the festival’s offerings, combining technology and art. It presents immersive, highly innovative projects ranging from virtual reality films, narrative games, to artificial intelligence applications. He expressed pride in launching this section, which boosts the festival’s prominence on the map of modern cinematic experiences.
Dr. Nora Kaheil, Director of the New Media Program, explained that CAIRO’S XR is a unique addition to the festival’s programs, opening doors to new opportunities for innovation in digital cinematic storytelling. It provides a platform to connect audiences with works that blend artistic creativity with immersive technologies.
