As part of the activities of Cairo Industry Days held within the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, a masterclass titled « Secrets of Comedy Crafting » will take place today, Thursday, November 13, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Open-Air Theatre of the Cairo Opera House. The discussion will be moderated by critic Osama Abdel Fattah.
The session will explore Mohamed Abdel Aziz’s journey with comedic cinema, an important part of Egyptian cinema history. He will reveal key secrets of this art form and how to craft comedic situations that combine intelligence and simplicity. Additionally, he will discuss his experience working with major comedy stars, the evolution of comedic sensibility in Egyptian cinema across generations, and the distinction between traditional and contemporary comedy, as well as the director’s role in preserving its human and artistic essence.
