Today, Monday, November 17, the film Round 13 directed by Mohamed Ali Nahdi will have its Middle East and North Africa premiere as part of the Arab Horizons Competition at the 46th Cairo International Film Festival. The screening will take place at 6:00 PM on the Small Theatre stage at the Cairo Opera House.
Round 13 is a narrative feature film produced in Tunisia, spoken in Arabic, with a runtime of 89 minutes.
The film weaves a powerful human drama following the story of Kamel, a former boxing champion who gave up his professional career for his wife Samia, drawing strength and life from her love and the admiring gaze of his son Sabry. The family’s life changes dramatically when Sabry falls injured in the schoolyard, breaking his arm. Medical examinations reveal a devastating diagnosis: a malignant tumor. The family’s stability collapses, and Kamel finds himself facing a harsh existential struggle with fate, making every round in his life a new test of strength and human resilience.
Mohamed Ali Nahdi is a Tunisian actor and director born in 1972. He studied editing and graduated from the Free Institute of French Cinema. Nahdi has directed several internationally-awarded short films including The Project, Once Upon a Time at Dawn, and Fatum. His debut feature film Majz premiered in 2022. Round 13 is his second feature film.
