As part of Cairo Industry Days activities held within the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, a panel discussion titled “A Renewed Look at Genre Cinema: The Journey from Festival Screenings to General Audiences” will be held today, Friday, November 14, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Open-Air Theatre of Cairo Opera House.
Participants include novelist and screenwriter Ahmed Mourad and cinema expert Mofida Fadila, who will provide an in-depth perspective on the evolution of genre films and their ability to transition from the specialized festival circuit to broad audiences. They will discuss stylistic and narrative changes witnessed in this cinema type in recent years.
The session will be moderated by Simona Nobile, who will lead the dialogue on the mechanisms of presenting this cinematic form amid the artistic and commercial market demands, and how it reaches mainstream viewers without losing its originality or creative value.
This session is part of a series of professional discussions organized by Cairo Industry Days to enhance exchange among filmmakers, deepen understanding of contemporary industry transformations, and support emerging filmmakers with insights to develop their projects across diverse narrative styles and genres.
