The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) announces organizing a number of workshops, on the sidelines of its 45th edition due to take place from 13th to 22nd of November, within the framework of the festival’s support and development of the cinema industry, as well as its contribution to enhancing the future of cinema.
This initiative is spearheaded by the administration of the festival as it believes that film festivals play a key role that not only encompasses film screenings, but also goes beyond that to lend support to filmmakers and encourage them by holding workshops that contribute to enhancing their skills and expanding their creative visions.
This year’s edition of CIFF is organizing three workshops; the First of which will be tackling the topic of “Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in sound design and mixing”, in collaboration with Fulbright Commission in Egypt, featuring American sound designer Monte Taylor who will be sharing his wealthy experience in this field with the attendees, in addition to reviewing the most updated state-of-the art technology used in AI-generated sound design and mixing.
The Second workshop will be held under the title “Pitching projects to producers and financiers”, in collaboration with the Film Independent and the US Embassy in Cairo with the aim of assisting filmmakers in professionally pitching their projects so as to draw the attention of both financiers and producers to such projects, and ultimately transform their cinematic vision into tangible reality.
The Third workshop is held under the title “Pitching scripts to producers and financiers” as this workshop will feature a host of mentors in scriptwriting field namely: Mohamed Hussein and Hossam El Kholy, as well as enabling the participants to come to grips with the know-how of pitching their scripts in such a way that will attract the interest of producers and financiers, as well as increase their chances of turning their ideas into successful films.
These workshops reflect CIFF commitment to boosting innovation and creativity in the film industry, as well as offer young talents an opportunity to learn and develop, thus contributing to building a new generation of filmmakers who are capable of achieving a global impact in the future.
Submitting to these workshops is open till 31st of August 2024. Interested applicants can apply via this email: cid.workshops@ciff.org.eg and mentioning the title of the workshop of interest in the subject line of the email.
